Exit Permit Only (EPO) Process

DETAILS:
The EPO process in Indonesia refers to the Exit Permit Only procedure, a mandatory process for expatriates (foreign workers or individuals) who are holding a KITAS (Temporary Stay Permit) or KITAP (Permanent Stay Permit) and intend to leave Indonesia permanently. The EPO is required to cancel the KITAS/KITAP and any associated work permits before the expatriate departs from Indonesia for good.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Original KITAS: You must submit your KITAS card, as the EPO effectively cancels it.

  • Passport: A valid passport with the visa page showing your current stay permit.

  • Sponsor Letter:

    • For employment-based KITAS: A sponsor letter from your employer or the company terminating your contract.

    • For dependent or family KITAS: A sponsor letter from the family member or individual who sponsored the visa.

  • Company Documents (for work KITAS holders):

    • Deed of Establishment and Articles of Association (Akta Pendirian Perusahaan).

    • Company NPWP (Taxpayer Identification Number).

    • Business licenses (SIUP/NIB).

    • If the employee is terminating the contract, proof of contract termination.

  • Expatriate Placement Plan (RPTKA) (for work KITAS holders): Confirmation from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower that your work position has been vacated.

  • Letter of Approval from the Directorate General of Immigration: Approval from the immigration office that the KITAS/KITAP is being canceled.

  • Exit Ticket: Proof of a confirmed flight out of Indonesia.

  • Tax Clearance (if applicable): If the foreigner was working in Indonesia, they may need to show a tax clearance certificate that confirms they have settled their taxes before leaving the country.
